COVID-19 Update

COVID-19 Update

Last updated: 3/26/2020 at 12:00pm

Thank you for your help in managing the risk of exposure to COVID-19.

Since our previous communication regarding COVID-19, several public health organizations – including the CDC and WHO – have issued strong advice to avoid person-to-person contact as much as possible.

Almost all greater Houston area counties, including Harris, Fort Bend, Galveston, and Brazoria, have issued stay-at-home orders asking all residents to only leave their homes for essential activities as leaders aim to stop the spread of COVID-19. The “Stay Home, Work Safe” order began Tuesday, March 24 and is in effect until Friday, April 3, according to Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner and is similar for surrounding counties.

After evaluating these new developments, following advice from public health experts, and in accordance with the policies of our affiliated soccer sanctioning bodies, we are extending the suspension of all soccer-related activities and club events until April 12. All training sessions, games, scrimmages, participation in tournaments, supplemental programs, community outreach programs, and all other organized club activities continue to be suspended.

We are currently planning to restart all club related activities on Monday, April 13. Our leadership team will continue to monitor developments in our community and communicate this information to our membership.

The health and safety of our players and families are our top priorities right now. We appreciate your help in managing the situation by following all advice and guidelines from public health officials. We understand this is a difficult time for our community, but we are confident that we will get through it.

In the meantime, we are working diligently to provide our players with additional resources to continue their development while staying home and staying safe. Our players have been provided with several homework assignments and projects to help them to learn, train and grow. Our #RISEhomework projects have been shared throughout social media and our players have truly shown they are committed to continuing their dedication to the game – no matter the place! We are proud of our RISE family during this time as they continue to show dedication to their player development path. Check out our players working hard at home by searching #RISEhomework on social media.

As we move through this difficult time, the health and safety of our players and families continue to be our biggest priority. We urge all of our families to follow guidelines from public health officials. We understand this is a tough time for our community, but we are confident that we will get through it together.

The club will continue to provide updates frequently over the next several days and keep you informed on new developments, including any new plans and decisions regarding a safe time to return to the field.

Thank you for your attention to this message and please keep an eye out for more communication from the club.
